Bones & Boos is Back at the AU Arboretum

Cat Bobo | Auburn-Opelika Tourism

Come explore the natural world at the second annual Bones & Boos at the Donald E. Davis Arboretum, October 12, from 12 – 4 p.m. This one-day outdoor exhibit of animal skeletons is hosted by the Davis Arboretum, the Auburn University Museum of Natural History and the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Guests can enjoy an up-close and personal look at some of nature’s most interesting animals from a whole new perspective. Exhibits will feature rhinoceros legs, whale ribs, tigers and bears, just to name a few. The event will also feature a silent auction, live music, food trucks, raffle prizes, fun children’s programs throughout the day and more.

“We are excited to bring our Bones and Boos event to the community again this year,” said Morgan Beadles, director of the Davis Arboretum. “This is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to come see some of the amazing skeletons and holdings of the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Museum of Natural History.”

While some activities will remain the same, others will be expanded – such as the “bone dig” site – and new activities are being added as well.

“We are adding some fun new twists this year,” said Beadles. “We’ll have a Stump The Expert station where people can bring unknown bones or fossils to be identified, a Monster Mash Dance-Off for kids, and some surprise visitors that few people ever have a chance to lay eyes on. It is a great way to spend a Saturday with family and friends.”

Bones and Boos is a family friendly event. Tickets are $10 per person for ages 12 and older, $5 for children ages 6-11, and children 6 and under get in free. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Davis Arboretum, AU Museum of Natural History and the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology.
