Jonathan Larson’s critically-acclaimed “RENT” is coming to the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center February 18 and 19, 2020, in celebration of its 20th touring year. Both shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night.

“RENT” is a re-imagining of Giacomo Puccini’s 1895 opera “La Boheme.” The unique “rock opera” follows a year in the life of seven artists struggling to find their way in New York City in the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. Its message, one of friendship, creativity, and love, has resonated with audiences around the world since the show’s Broadway debut in April 1996.

The show received the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1996 as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in the same year. The original director, Michael Greif, has also been nominated for a number of Tony and Drama Desk awards. The show’s success even led to a film adaptation in 2005.

Tickets for “RENT” are on sale now and can be purchased here. Spectators should be advised that the show contains adult content and themes. To learn more, visit the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center website or follow the “RENT” 20th Anniversary Tour on social media.
