The Boogie

Spring is one of the best times of the year in Auburn-Opelika for many reasons.... one being The Old 280 Boogie.

The Boogie is a multi-cultural music & arts festival held on the grounds of Standard Deluxe Inc. in Waverly, Alabama.

Just like every other event in April- sometimes it’s cool and sometimes it’s warm, but it’s never hot. It’s that special time of the year when you can’t wait to wear shorts and tank tops. You can’t wait to spend the day outside.

The boogie is the perfect venue for a blanket, shorts, and a cooler (no glass) filled with your favorite beverage and possibly some chicken salad, cheese, and crackers or whatever you fancy.

You may or may not have heard of the bands, but no worries. They’re always good. They’re a funky mix of acoustic and soulful and bluegrass.

There are local vendors for food, jewelry, and pottery and you'll most likely walk away with a t-shirt or print by Standard Deluxe.

The Boogie is hosted and created by Scott Peek from Standard Deluxe every year. They do a fantastic job. It grows every year, but it still keeps the same spirit. This year's date is set for Saturday, April 21. The lineup includes musical performances by SHINYRIBS, REV. SEKOU, REVEL IN DIMES, CHRIS STALCUP & The GRANGE, THE PINE HILL HAINTS, and MARSHALL RUFFIN.
