Road Trip Ready: Family Fun

Because the kids of 2020 deserve a whole lot of summer.

Let’s face it: 2020 has been the worst! Whether your kids are back in the classroom or stuck in their Zoom rooms, it’s time to give them another chance of summer fun while you still can. Nature exploration, splash pads, and the world’s best hot fudge sundaes. Auburn-Opelika is Road Trip Ready.

Day 1:

Check-In: Once you check-in at the Four-Diamond Hotel, there isn’t much reason to leave. Auburn Opelika Marriott & Spa at Grand National embraces nature at its finest. Amenities abound at this scenic property, including indoor and outdoor resort pools, lawn games, pickleball, full-service spa, and much more. The Marriott Resort is the perfect destination for your family getaway.

Make a Splash: Head straight for the fabulous pool featuring a splash zone for kids along with a poolside grill and bar. There is an adult pool where mom and dad can relax for a moment of peace and a whirlpool complete with towels service.

Chow Down: The poolside restaurant, Splash, has everything you need for lunch and dinner. Let the kids swim around while you enjoy a refreshing cocktail, and when they get hungry, grub on a cheeseburger and fries. Satisfied kids equal happy parents.

Game on: In need of a little family-friendly competition? Head over to Cyberzone to play laser tag in their state of the art facility. It has 6,200 feet of arena with ramps and several game types. Unleash your inner kid while playing the arcade games they including an all-time favorite skee ball. Don't forget to check out their new e-sports area with tons of computers to play today's favorites like Fortnite.

Day 2:

Nature Exploration: It’s time to get outdoors and explore all things nature. The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center has over six miles of trails to hike and explore. There is a shaded pavilion where live exhibits of local wildlife such as turtles, frogs, and snakes are shown. And don’t leave without letting the kids explore the natural playground.

Famous Chili Dogs and Sundaes: After a day of adventuring, Mrs. Story’s Dairy Bar is the place to be. Still in its original location, this 50’s-style walk-up features a famous foot-long chili dog that’s still being made by the Story family four generations later. Top off your meal with the world’s best hot fudge sundaes for the fam. There’s only one Mrs. Story’s, and there’s only one Auburn-Opelika!
