Chirpwood, located in Opelika, is the areas only gallery for regional artists. The scent of southern pine fills the shop, with local artwork filling the handcrafted niches in the walls.
Offering numerous styles of frames and finishes, Chirpwood is a one-stop destination for local artwork framed and finished by owner, Scott Moody. The shop has an ever-growing network of artists who call Chirpwood their framer and go-to gallery.
Unlike factories that mass-produce frames, each Chirpwood frame is unique with individual charm. Chirpwood also offers products such as feeders, mirrors and chalkboards.
Moody is donating at least half of Chirpwood's profits to causes they believe in. This year's proceeds are being donated to the Bridge2Rwanda Scholars Program; a university preparation program to help African students earn international scholarships.
Coming soon to Chirpwood will be the addition of The Nest; a lounging area featuring Westrock coffee of Rwanda, high-speed Internet, multiple conversation areas and reading nooks. Guests will be offered fruit from the Opelika’s Farmers Market and various seasonal snacks.
The Nest is bright with sunshine and luminous with the flare of Edison light bulbs crafted by Scott himself. This coffee retreat is the perfect location to host study groups or intimate gatherings.
The Nest was thoughtfully designed to be “your place when you’re not at your place”. Whether you’re in search of solid wood frames, a coffee break, or an event venue, Chirpwood’s rustic appeal is sure to please.
What started years ago, as a garage-based niche picture frame company, is now a gallery filled with southern art in an open retail space. Be sure to follow Chirpwood on social to stay in the know for the grand opening of the Nest!
