Visiting or live in the Auburn-Opelika area and love mountain biking? Cycling and mountain biking are a hot sport right now! Children and adults alike have found biking to be an experience that allows them to actively enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. The Auburn-Opelika area has many activities to offer!

  1. Chewacla
In the southern most foothills of the Appalachian Trail, you’ll find over 696 beautiful acres perfect for biking. Our local mountain biking club, the Central Alabama Mountain Pedalers (CAMP) is responsible for the thousands of hands-on volunteer hours that went into building 25+ miles of trails. CAMP also offers open instructional rides for all skill levels.
Bikers can grab lunch by following the bike trail form Chewacla to Louie’s Chicken Fingers on Ogletree Road!
  2. Lake Wilmore
Lake Wilmore is a 2-mile intermediate loop located behind Ogletee Elementary. The trail head is located in the Ogletree Elementary School parking lot.
There are a few “challenge” areas that are marked, suitable for the more intermediate riders or for the beginner looking to up their skill set. Challenge yourself on the trails all while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. This trail is just a short ride from Chewacla as well.
  3. Tuskegee National Forest
Tuskegee National Forest is a short drive from Auburn offering 12 miles of ‘bikeable’ single track. The trek through Tuskegee National Forrest can be a challenge, but is an experience you’ll enjoy. Labeled as an “old school” trail, Tuskegee offers a back-country experience just a short drive from Auburn.
  4. Bo Bikes Bama
Seeing the devastation from the April 27, 2011 tornados in his home state of Alabama, two-sport legend Bo Jackson embarked on a bicycle ride that is now an annual event. Jackson lends the state of Alabama a helping hand at the annual Bo Bikes Bama charity ride. The funds raised provide the emergency resources and preparedness for disasters in the state of Alabama, including the construction of community storm shelters. Check out the website bobikesbama.com and mark your calendar for the next ride!
  5. Clarion Bring Your Bike Rate
The Clarion is a bike-friendly hotel and offers a discounted rate for travelers who bring their bikes. You can even store your bike right in your room! The deal stands on any non-football weekend and is only $62 per night plus tax. Contact the Clarion at 334-821-7001 to learn even more about the deal!
