The LWVEA September program meeting will be an informational session to inform our members, citizens and candidates (both elected and in the Auburn municipal run-off) about how local cities can incorporate more sustainable practices into their operations, improve transparency in government, and plan for smart city growth. A panel of three speakers with expertise in these areas will give 15 minute presentations and take questions from the audience. Guest speakers are Mike Kensler (Director, AU Office of Sustainability), Brittany Cannon Dement (Ethics & American Government Instructor, Southern Union State Community College), and Rebecca Retzlaff (Associate Professor, Auburn University’s Community Planning Program). Candidates in Auburn's run-off municipal election have been invited to attend and have been encouraged to come early and stay late to meet and talk with attendees about the future of Auburn. We have also reached out to other elected representatives about attending. This meeting is free and open to the public. Bring your friends!
