About the James E. Martin Aquatic

James E. Martin Aquatics Center is located between Beard-Eaves Coliseum and the Student Activities Center. It houses an Olympic-size pool with two moveable bulkheads which allow for variable distance competition and simultaneous diving as well as an instructional pool used for various classes.  The facility is open daily to the public for use.

Draped with banners honoring the eight-time Men’s NCAA Champions, five-time Women’s NCAA Champions and 23 SEC titles, the James E. Martin Aquatics Center has been home to the Auburn swimming and diving team since it opened in 1993. Chosen to host some of the top competitions in the sport of swimming, the Aquatics Center is designed as one of the premier natatoriums in the nation, and provides Auburn and its athletes with the perfect facility for training and competition.

Competition Pool - 25 yard x 77 meter pool with a general depth of 9-10 feet extending to 16.5 feet in the diving well.  The pool has two moveable bulkheads allowing for variable distance competitions and training.  The pool contains a gutter system which minimizes wave reflection along the sides of the pool, as well as water pass-through system in the bulkheads which reduces wave reflection on turns.  The diving area contains 1, 3, 5, 7,5, and 10-meter platforms and two one-meter and two three-meter Duraflex springboards.  The facility contains seating for 1000 spectators and 800 competitors. The facility was constructed in 1993.

Instructional Pool- The Instructional Pool is adjacent to the Competition Pool and was constructed in 1969.  The pool is 8 lane, 25 yard pool ranging in depth from 4-12 feet as well as a separate shallow area ideal for teaching and beginners.  The pool also features an accessibility ramp.

Outdoor Pool - The Outdoor Training Pool is an Olympic sized 50 meter x 25 meter pool ranging in depth from 4-6.5ft.  The pool is not open to the general public and is used for training only.
