Doxie Palooza! is an annual festival held in the spring to celebrate that wondrous breed of dogs: dachshund (or “doxie” for short). Held in Auburn’s picturesque Kiesel Park, the celebration includes a casual dog show and dachshund races (a very amusing sight, indeed!). Some folks simply come to socialize with like-minded people and their doxies. Doxie Palooza! is a free, family-fun event (no admission or registration fees). At Doxie Palooza!, doxies and mixes may participate in the casual dog show either in costume or bare-naked. To take part in the races, each doxie should be accompanied by two people, one to release the doxie at the starting line and the second to entice the doxie from the finish line. Temptations such as toys and treats are allowed. Ribbons are awarded at both the dog show and the doxie races. Doxies and mixes may participate in just one of the events or both events. Doxie Palooza! will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Kiesel Park; the rain date is Saturday, April 20, 2013. Doxie Palooza! is a family-oriented event, open to the public. The 2013 Doxie Palooza! is the fifth annual event and the casual dog show has been streamlined so the doxie races can begin around 11:00 a.m. Doxie Palooza! tee shirts will be available. Drawings will be held for doxie-themed prizes. Everyone is invited to join in the fun!
