Get a behind-the-scenes look at the new Susie and Jay Gogue Performing Arts Center with executive director Chris Heacox on Friday, September 13 at 3 p.m. Mr. Heacox will discuss what it takes to  to open an 85,000 square foot venue from construction to headlining performances. Guests will also have the chance to participate in backstage tours of the new center. The event is free and open to the public.

As executive director of the Susie and Jay Gogue Performing Arts Center, Chris Heacox oversees the artistic, administrative and philanthropic direction of the center. He has worked in performing arts presenting for over fifteen years, including Opening Nights Performing Arts at Florida State University (Tallahassee, Florida), Friday Musicale (Jacksonville, Florida), the Porter Center for the Performing Arts (North Carolina) and Riverside Fine Arts Association (Jacksonville, Florida).

Mr. Heacox is a current member of the board of directors for the Association of Performing Arts Professionals. He also serves as the immediate past-president of the Florida Professional Presenters Consortium and on many boards such as the South Arts Southern Presenters Consortium, Council on Culture and Arts (Tallahassee/Leon County) Board of Directors, Tallahassee/Leon County Cultural Plan Review Committee, STAGE Committee for the Capital City Amphitheater, State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Strategic Planning Team, Opportunity Tallahassee and Leadership Jacksonville.

Mr. Heacox studied saxophone performance at Florida State University and earned a Master of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He is married with two sons and lives in Auburn.
