Date: February 6th, 2020
Time: 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM

Join Dr. Katharine Hayhoe at The Hotel at Auburn Univeristy on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 7-8:30 p.m. for a talk entitled "Faith, Climate Change and Our Culture in the U.S." The event is free and open to the public.

Says Dr. Hayhoe: "Mounting scientific evidence clearly documents the risks posed by climate change to the poor, the needy and other vulnerable populations...As the scientific evidence builds, however, so does the vocal opposition to this evidence in the U.S...Why is climate change so polarizing to these communities? Combining basic tenets of the Christian faith with recent findings from the areas of psychology, sociology and climate science, I will discuss potential reasons for these disagreements and the role that shared values may plan in moving us forward past these barriers."

This event is co-organized by the Department of Geosciences and the Office of Sustainability, with additional support from the College of Agriculture, Academic Sustainability Programs. Visit the Office of Sustainability website to learn more.
