The Auburn Community Orchestra (ACO) will perform its fall concert at Kiesel Park this year on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. ACO will perform three brief concerts under the theme of “Keep the Music Going,” hoping to inspire Auburn residents to get out and enjoy their community (from safe distances!) by listening to a beautiful concert carefully and skillfully prepared by a top-tier Auburn music group.

The program features works by Handel, Mozart, Pachelbel, Reicha, Mouret, Dukas, Bliss, Gabrielli, Still, Barthe, and the most prolific of composers, A. Nonymous. There will be three brief concert sets with the following ensembles: strings (with harp soloist and horn soloist), woodwinds as well as brass and percussion.

ACO is under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Richard Prior, a native of Great Britain who has been directing and conducting orchestras in Georgia for over 25 years. Under his direction, the community orchestra will provide Auburn residents and visitors an expertly rehearsed and enthusiastically prepared concert at Kiesel Park.

There will be plenty of space for audience members to spread out and enjoy the concert in person. Seating areas will be marked to ensure social distancing. Masks are required entering and exiting the concert or if you leave your designated area. Come out to enjoy a lovely fall evening on the plains!

The Auburn Community Orchestra's mission is to continue to build on tradition by showcasing excellent performances for the Auburn, Opelika, and East Alabama area in order to immerse Alabama communities in orchestral concerts. The group is comprised of musicians in the community including public school and university students, professors, as well as both amateur and professional musicians.
