Feeling nostalgic for the good times of Mardi Gras? Love a good mystery thriller with a hometown feel? Take the parade route down to Well Red Bookstore on Wednesday, May 18, when author Doug Lamplugh will be signing copies of his true crime-flavored novel, MURDER AT MARDI GRAS.

Our kitchen will also be serving our incredibly popular king cake to celebrate the event! Stop by for the reading and purchase a slice (or two) of the yummy cinnamon and brown sugar cake with cream cheese icing and lots of festive sprinkles!

This mystery thriller feels so real you’ll believe it actually happened, thanks to Doug’s 30-year career as a criminal investigator. Follow along as Detective William Boyett tries to solve the case of a Mobile woman who was murdered just a few blocks from the parade route. Can he solve the case before it’s too late, or will the horrific truth be too much to handle?

Doug Lamplugh spent 30 years in law enforcement, the first six as a local police officer in Pennsylvania where he served in patrol as well as a detective. Doug left local policing and became a special agent, then a special agent supervisor with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for the next 23 years. After retiring from the D.E.A., he began teaching criminal justice classes at the University of South Alabama and Huntingdon College. Doug also founded a private investigations and consulting business and was certified trainer for private investigators in Alabama.

We hope to see you there! (Beads not required for entrance, but always appreciated).
