The South's favorite craft beer festival is back at Auburn University's Ag Heritage Park! Join us on Friday for the Friday Night Beer and Family Style Dinner at 6:30 & Saturday for Oktoberfest from 4-8 p.m.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT BEER AND FAMILY-STYLE DINNER:

New to 2023, on Friday Night, September 22nd from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for an Oktoberfest Feast. Located on the lawn at Hey Day Market, under the lights with entertainment provided by The War Damn Polka Band!

What to expect on Friday:

  • A ceremonial start to the weekend from our “Burgermeister” or mayor of the 2023 Oktoberfest with the official tapping of the keg “O’zapft!” We are excited to announce our Burgermeister this year Dr. Richard Bird with AU BREW.
  • Custom “AUOktoberfest Stein Mug”
  • Limited AUOktoberfest 2023 hat pin”
  • Exclusive beer & wine to the festival
  • A family-style dinner featuring:
    • Large soft pretzels, beer cheese mustard
    • Selection bratwursts, knackwursts and various sausages and mustards
    • Schnitzel
    • Warm potato salad, braised red cabbage and cucumber salad
    • Black Forest Cookies

OKTOBERFEST:

AU Oktoberfest began in 2008 and has grown to be one of the largest beer festivals in the Southeast. There is live music, contests, educational presentations, stein hoisting, and food trucks, along with a multitude of breweries and beer. 

  • AU Oktoberfest hosts some of the best breweries in the country.  Check out this growing list to see if your favorite is already registered!
  • Homebrewers from central Alabama will be competing for your vote to name them the best! Come try brews from more than a dozen homebrewers.
  • From the crowd-favorite Stein hoisting competition to wiener dog races, Mr. And Miss Oktoberfest competition, and more, there’s something for everyone at Oktoberfest!
  • From live music to all the best college football games streamed live, there’s no shortage of entertainment at AU Oktoberfest

Education & Presentations:

Join AU Brew at Oktoberfest. The team from the Graduate Certificate Program will be on hand to talk about brewing and their program. The Program is designed to prepare students for successful career entry in the malting, brewing, and distilling industries, while the Master of Science Program provides additional in-depth study for advanced placement in the craft brewing industry. Eligible students have the option of enrolling in either program with all credits from the Graduate Certificate Program (18 in total) counting towards the Master of Science Program (33 credit hours in total).

Drink & Be German (21+):

The Drink & Be German Package includes entrance to the festival, a tasting mug and lanyard, and access to taste all products at the event, live music from Norris Jones’ Soul Band and The Warm Damn Polka Band, games and activities. Food will be available to purchase from Food Trucks. 

Eat, Drink, & Be German (21+):

The Eat, Drink & Be German Package includes entrance to the festival, a tasting mug and lanyard, a “neck nosh” pretzel necklace, a t-shirt, and a food ticket to one food truck good for one food item and beverage and access to taste all products at the event, live music from Norris Jones’ Soul Band and The Warm Damn Polka Band, games and activities. Additional food will be available to purchase from Food Trucks.

General Admission:

This year, general admission tickets will be available for guests to enter the festival and enjoy the live music, games, and activities. The general admission ticket does not include a tasting mug and lanyard. The Ag Heritage Park is open to the public, but to enter the tasting areas you must be 21 or older.

*Food Trucks will be available for you to purchase food and a limited amount of beer will be available for purchase at the event.
