The glow of more than 200 jack-o-lanterns will illuminate the courtyard of Auburn University’s Dudley Hall on Friday, October 28th, as students from the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction hold the 34th Annual Pumpkin Carve.
The Auburn University American Institute of Architecture Students invites all students, faculty, and community members to gather in the courtyard of Dudley Hall to carve pumpkins. Judges, who include community members and the College of Architecture, Design and Construction faculty, will select the best pumpkins and award prizes donated by local businesses.
The carving begins at 9:00 a.m., and all-day events include a silent auction to win napkin sketches created by CADC faculty and the opportunity to purchase this year’s Pumpkin Carve t-shirts and stickers. Raffle tickets will be sold for the chance to win one of several prize baskets donated by local businesses and campus partners. Refreshments will include snacks, treats, and beverages from various CADC organizations as well as AIAS Dog Days coordinating hamburgers and hot dogs.
At 5:30 p.m. pumpkin carving will end, and the pumpkins will be illuminated. The pumpkins, many with intricate designs and current event themes, will be judged by a jury of community members and CADC faculty based on creativity, appearance, and craftsmanship.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., winners for the raffle contest, napkin sketch silent auction, and pumpkin carving contest will be announced, and prizes awarded. At 7:30 p.m., the winning pumpkins will be auctioned to benefit the AIAS. Other carved and uncarved pumpkins will be available for purchase for a minimum donation of $5 with those proceeds also benefiting the AIAS.
