A Book Talk by Jennifer Horne will be hosted at Pebble Hill at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Horne is the author of Odyssey of a Wandering Mind: The Strange Tale of Sara Mayfield. This book is a carefully rendered portrait of a brilliant but troubled daughter of the Old South who struggled against the conventions of gender, class, family, and ultimately of sanity, yet survived to define a creative life of her own.

Jennifer Horne, an Arkansas native now residing in Alabama, is a writer, editor, and educator. Her anthology "Working the Dirt" (2003) showcases over 100 poems on Southern farming and gardening. Co-editing with Wendy Reed, she garnered praise for "All Out of Faith" (2006) and "Circling Faith" (2012), which explore spirituality in the South.

Her latest book, "Tell the World You’re a Wildflower" (2014), features interconnected stories of Southern women and girls. Additionally, "Bottle Tree" (2010) delves into her experiences as a Southern woman, while "Little Wanderer," a collection of road and travel poems, is set for release by Salmon Poetry. Horne is presently engaged in crafting a poetry chapbook, a new short story collection, and a memoir-inspired work centered on Scott and Zelda biographer Sara Mayfield.
