Date: February 25th, 2024
Time: 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM

In this workshop collaboration you will work with Barbara Birdsong Designs and Nadene of Idylwilde to make your own turquoise pendant bolo and botanical dyed silk scarf. You will be guided through the steps but can work at your own pace and begin to develop your own practice.

You will be lead you through the botanical dye process using color-giving plants and flowers to create vibrant dye patterns on your own silk bandana. Students will learn how to prepare fabric for dyeing (mordanting), how to set up their own home dye kitchen, and how to use common household ingredients to expand their dye palette.

Students will also develop basic metal-smithing skills required to make a sterling/turquoise pendant bolo. Students will get a taste of soldering, joining, and stone setting to finish their project. Together we’ll enjoy creative discussions and build a community to share our knowledge and resources. Cost includes all materials and snacks.
