The Auburn University Soccer Complex was constructed in 1994, with the opening game in the stadium coming in a 2-1 win over the University of Mobile on Sept. 3, 1994.

The AU Soccer Complex had an original seating capacity of 600 and was expanded to seat 1,500 in 1995. There was another addition in the 2001 season as the Tigers added lights to the complex and remodeled the press box. In the summer of 2002, the drainage system was renovated and permanent bench covers and built-in restrooms were added.

During the 2002 season, head coach Karen Hoppa collected her 100th career victory at the AU Soccer Complex in a 4-0 win over South Alabama. In 2004, Auburn hosted not only the SEC Tournament but was also awarded its first NCAA Regional, hosting Birmingham Southern, Clemson, and Washington.

Auburn repeated that in 2008 when it played host to the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Tournament, joined by Belmont, Florida State, and Mississippi Valley State. All in all, the team has hosted seven NCAA Tournament matches, including one in each of the last three seasons.

Prior to the start of the 2005 season, the Tigers added a Daktronics scoreboard which includes a video board and in-game statistics such as shots, saves, corner kicks, and fouls in addition to score and time of play.

Today, the AU Soccer Complex is equipped with home and visiting team benches and dugouts, its own training room, and new state-of-the-art lights. Home to the seven-time SEC Western Division Champion Auburn Tigers, the AU Soccer Complex has seen the home team emerge victorious in more than 150 matches.

Located across the street from the Auburn Athletic Complex, the soccer stadium's natural turf playing surface is 120 yards long, by 78- yards wide.

The Tigers played their inaugural season of intercollegiate soccer in 1993 at Wilbur "Bodie" Hinton Field on the Auburn campus before moving into its new home in 1994. AU defeated Spring Hill 4-0 at "Bodie" Hinton Field in the first intercollegiate soccer match in Auburn history.
