The 3rd Annual Alabama Oyster Social

The third annual Alabama Oyster Social is this Saturday, January 28th at 6 p.m.! The social will be hosted at the ALFA Pavilion (the red barn) on Auburn University’s campus with featured chefs from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana. Participants will enjoy an assortment of oysters, beverages and live music.

Local chefs from the Auburn-Opelika area include Robbie Nicholaisen, Brandon Burleson, Miguel Figeroa, William Walker, Leo Maurelli, Ban Stewart, Caleb Fischer and David Bancroft. 

Chef Leonardo Maurelli, of Ariccia Trattoria, will be cooking with Chef Justin Devillier, of La Petite Grocery. They will serve an exciting oyster ceviche with finger lemons, aji Amarillo and Mexican marigold.

Chefs David Bancroft and Caleb Fischer, of Acre, will partner with Ban Stewart, of Kowaliga, to serve duck pastrami, oyster gelee, crawfish boudin and ceviche with kumquat. They will also serve smoked trout with rye crackers and West Indies crab with lavash.

This year’s goal is to raise $100,000 for the oyster farmers and their families. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Auburn University Shellfish Laboratory in efforts to establish new oyster farming parks.
