Auburn-Opelika Tourism is an economic enhancement tool for the communities of Auburn, Opelika and Lee County. We promote and develop our area through the travel and tourism industry and introduce the unique spirit of Auburn-Opelika to visitors from around the world.

  • The AO Tourism distributes over 385,000 pieces of resource materials to area visitors each year. 
  • The AO Tourism spends over $422,000 in advertising and promotion for the Auburn-Opelika area each year.
  • Our website is visited by over 1600 unique individual users per day. 
  • Lee County enjoyed over $438 million in visitor spending for 2016 (representing a 12% increase over the previous year), resulting in 6,243 jobs; tourism is the area's second largest employer after Auburn University.
  • Dollars collected by the tourism industry  in 2016 saved individual households an average of $444 each in state and local taxes.
  • The population of Lee County has grown from 125,350 to 156,993in the last 10 years. This is a growth of 31,583 or 25 percent.

    John Wild has worked in the hospitality & tourism industry for 40 years, serving as President of AO Tourism since May of 2003 while previously managing the Auburn University Hotel & Dixon Conference Center. John is actively involved in the community and has served on the boards of many local and industry organizations including the Auburn Rotary Club, United Way of Lee County and the Alabama Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. 

    John is an avid photographer and enjoys attending many of the local events and taking sports photos for the Auburn Villager. While a true Auburn fan, he has lived in several university towns and still responds to Go Green or Go Buffs! Hiking in the mountains or on trails in the West with his camera is a favorite hobby.

    Robyn Bridges has over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. She was employed with the Hotel at Auburn University before joining AO Tourism in 2003. Robyn has been active on a variety of industry and civic boards and committees, including the Southeast Tourism Society, Alabama Hospitality Association, the Alabama Travel Council, the Public Relations Council of Alabama, the Southern Public Relations Federation, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County, and United Way. Robyn is an adjunct professor in Tourism/Public Relations at Auburn University and is passionate about the Auburn-Opelika community and sharing the culture of our destination to audiences around the country and beyond.

    After 20 years in the travel industry Cindy joined Auburn-Opelika Tourism in December 2005. Her many years as a Corporate Travel Agent with Fair Winds Travel has provided her a wealth of experience in attending to the travel needs of groups and businesses. Cindy markets the Auburn-Opelika area to groups and conferences around the nation. Cindy serves on the board of directors for Independent Rights and Resources, the advisory board of Opelika Main Street and is a member of The Piedmont Bird Trail Committee and does volunteer work for the March of Dimes.     Cat Bobo graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Public Relations in 2015 and now serves as the Communications Manager for AOT. Cat is has been a Diplomat for the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, on the committee for Auburn Young Professionals, and serves on the Board of Directors of Leadership Lee County, the Women's Businss Council, and Lee County Young Leaders. Cat is a true Auburn local, having lived here her whole life. She enjoys writing and loves to edit even more. In her free time, Cat enjoys running, hiking, practicing yoga, good food, great movies and traveling.     Brooke Peace Harris graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Communications. She has lived in Auburn for over 10 years. Brooke is a member of the Public Relations Council of Alabama and serves on the board for the local East Alabama Chapter. She loves reading, yoga, running and her dogs.     Anthony Terling has over 10 years of experience in the sports industry. He graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2009 with a undergraduate degree in sports management. He later went on to earn his masters in the same field. Before joining the AOT, Terling served as vice president external affairs for the Alabama Sports Festival Foundation (ASF), a non-profit organization responsible for producing the Alabama State Games and also worked for the Tampa Bay Rays and their AA minor league affiliate as a gameday analytics tracker.     

    Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, watching any and all sports in person or on TV (hockey is the best!), attending Auburn University athletic events, and fishing.

    Kate Hood graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Hospitality Event Management in the spring of 2020. During her time at Auburn University, she was an ambassador and peer advisor for the College of Human Sciences. She was also in Eta Sigma Delta (International Hospitality Honor Society) and served as a member on the Student Hospitality Advisory Board. During Kate's time in Auburn-Opelika, she has gained experience in the music industry and in event management. In her free time, Kate enjoys cooking, reading, and re-watching her favorite movies.

    Emma Donaldson is from Montgomery, Alabama, and is a senior at Auburn University graduating in May 2021 with a degree in Public Relations. Emma served as an Orientation Leader Counselor and Coordinator for the past two years for the First Year Experience office on campus. Emma is a member of the Tri Delta Panhellenic Sorority and loves being with her friends. She enjoys traveling, being in Auburn (especially on a game day), and doing anything outside.
