Elisabeth Wiebe

Located on College Street in Auburn’s North College Historic District is a lovely bed and breakfast known as the Crenshaw Guest House. Built in 1890 by Professor Crenshaw, this Victorian-style house served as the professor’s home before he opened the second floor to Auburn University students.

Today, the Crenshaw Guest House offers comfort, history, and modern conveniences to visitors wishing to stay for an Auburn game day weekend, a romantic getaway, or just to experience all the loveliest village has to offer. This bed and breakfast is within walking distance to downtown Auburn and Auburn University’s campus. Meticulous attention to detail, from the comfort of beds adorned with cotton linens, plush robes and luxury amenities, create an ambiance of carefree comfort to suit every taste.

Guests are greeted by the house's enchanting blue exterior, unique bay window, and an inviting porch swing surrounded by weeping oaks, maple trees, and lush green landscaping.

Step inside the Main House and find lofty 12-foot ceilings, pine floors, and thoughtfully curated period decor adding to the historic ambiance. Each room in the Main House offers a variety of experiences. The Aubie Suite, located upstairs, is a Jack-and-Jill suite that provides plenty of space for guests to sit back and enjoy their home away from home. The spacious Jordan Room sits at the back of the house providing privacy for couples and families. Guests who book the Nichols Room may enjoy afternoons on the “sleeper porch” on the first floor.

The Pat Dye Cottage, a charming two-room, two-bathroom suite, is an ideal retreat for families. With two bunk beds in the living area, this cottage can accommodate six guests. Outside, a 400-square-foot deck offers a serene setting for enjoying sunsets, surrounded by over 20 trees planted by the legendary Pat Dye himself. For guests seeking a rustic experience, the Thach Cottage welcomes pets and accommodates up to five guests. Featuring two king beds, a twin bed, and an upstairs loft, it provides ample space for a pleasant stay.

Each room and suite provides a private bathroom and numerous amenities like complimentary drinks, comfortable robes, and American-made toiletry products to ensure a relaxing experience. Guests are treated to a delicious, home-cooked hot breakfast each morning, prepared by the innkeeper. Your breakfast may include items from freshly brewed local coffee to homemade granola to meats from Auburn University’s Meat Lab.

Whether you dream of a pleasant escape, a fun-filled family adventure, or just some well-deserved R&R, the Crenshaw Guest House is your ticket to an unforgettable stay in Auburn.
