Auburn/Opelika Hotel Becoming a Marriott Resort

Currently ranked as one of the top five Marriott Hotels in North and South America (out of 365) for guest satisfaction, the Auburn/Opelika Marriott at Grand National is about to join an even more elite group. In 2018 the property will become a Marriott Resort, one of 54 worldwide and only 17 in the United States.

"Becoming a Marriott Resort will help attract larger conventions and groups to the Auburn/Opelika area," said Kevin Cross, general manager of the Auburn/Opelika Marriott at Grand National. "Many groups prefer a resort setting with a wide variety of amenities and activities for their guests. That is exactly what they will find at our property," he said. "Adding the Spa at Grand National and 95 additional guest rooms are key factors in this progression. The Auburn/Opelika Marriott and the local area will soon become even more marketable for conventions, leisure guests, and economic development initiatives."

The Spa at Grand National is scheduled to be complete in Fall 2018 and the Marriott Resort status finalized. With RTJ golf, multiple pools, tennis, pickleball, and a new spa facility plus the many offerings at Auburn University, the Auburn/Opelika Marriott will be a regional and national destination.

"The Spa at Grand National will feature 20,000 square feet of wellness, relaxation, and motivation," said Cross. "With the bottom two floors dedicated to spa services and a state-of-the-art fitness facility on the top floor, our hotel guests and local residents will have a European-style spa experience with an Opelika address," said Cross. "You will not find a finer spa in the area which will appeal to our guests and the community. Membership and day pass options are being developed while the spa facility is under construction."
