Windhorse Gallery is a new initiative led by Barbara Birdsong and Mary Ann Casey that facilitates local art events, from pop-up events to gallery shows, each with the purpose of elevating the art community and bringing more creativity to central Alabama. Windhorse Gallery serves a niche for artists who are creating good art but who can lack a permanent place to display their work. Birdsong says, “When you provide a safe place for those creative explorations the ideas and collaborations become contagious and boundless.” Windhorse Gallery, as a mobile flexible organizing platform will pull the energy of a community together to expand beyond what our minds could imagine. Birdsong’s favorite quotes from the late great Merle Haggard says, “Art is the transfer from emotion of one to another.” That transfer of emotion resonates in the air of the gathering space. It’s an incurable contagion that brings beauty to our community.
