Time: 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM

Chewacla State Park welcomes Vicky Smith with A-Z Animals for an incredible look into the lives of bats. Vicky is an experienced naturalist and educator with years of experience in environmental education and a passion for critters of all kinds.

This adventure will bring you up-close with native and exotic bats while also learning about their importance in our ecosystems. The fun doesn’t end with just bats. Scorpions, tarantulas, snakes, (oh my!) will also be part of the spooktacular program.

Then, venture with us on a 1-hour night hike where we will explore the night sky, searching for bats and constellations. On the ground, we will search for glowing organisms and other small creatures that call Chewacla home. Throughout the event, we will be serving hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

Tickets for the event are $10 per person with no additional front gate fee. Children 3 and under are free. The hiking portion of the event will be cancelled in the event of rain, but Vicky’s program will happen rain or shine. Bring comfortable shoes, flashlights, bug spray, and your cameras!

Meet at the Chewacla State Park Nature Center, located at the second parking loop to the right upon park entry. If you have any questions, please contact Olivia Sciandra at olivia.sciandra@dcnr.alabama.gov.
