Calling all goblins, gremlins, and ghouls - it's time to get your scare on

Fall is here, Halloween is just around the corner, and Auburn-Opelika is gearing up the costumes and candy to celebrate this spooktacular holiday. Check out some of the scary good Halloween events in store this year from concerts to haunted farms. Scroll down for month-long Halloween happenings and the offiial dates for trick-or-treating in Auburn and Opelika!

Sundown Concert Series

October 5 & 19 | 5:30 - 7 p.m. | Kiesel Park, Auburn

Join Kiesel Park for an evening of music and fun. Concessions will be available for purchase. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and come enjoy great music. Pets on leashes are welcome as well. They will be featuring Michael Warren & Company on October 5 and Established on October 19.

Harvest Market

October 7 | 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. | Town Creek Park, Auburn

City Market hosts local farmers, growers farmers, growers, and artists to sell their fresh, local, and handmade products to community members.

Fall Festival at Botanic

October 7 | 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. | Botanic, Opelika

Join in on a full day of family fun packed with plenty of games & activities for the kids, festive food & drinks, and live music with Mother Moonpie. Don't forget to pick out the perfect pumpkin in every color, size and shape!

Bats and Boos: A Spooktacular Night in Nature

October 7 | 6 - 8 p.m. | Chewacla State Park, Auburn

Bats and Boos: A Spooktacular Night adventure will bring you up close with native and exotic bats while learning about their importance in our ecosystems. The fun doesn’t end with just bats. Scorpions, tarantulas, and snakes (oh my!) will also be part of the spooktacular program.

Fright Night at the Villa

October 7 | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. | Spring Villa Park, Opelika

Join Opelika Parks and Recreation for a night of horror with a viewing of "It" (2017) at Spring Villa Park! 

Festival De Miura

October 13 | 6 - 9 p.m. | Hey Day Market Green Space, Auburn

Auburn's very first Festival De Miura will be an incredible evening celebrating the best of Spanish wine, food, and music. Emmanuel Kemiji, Master Sommelier and proprietor of Clos Pissarra, will be in attendance as guests enjoy his renowned wines and beers; as well as sangria, a selection of paellas, traditional Cochinillo Asado and dancing to live, sizzling Flamenco.  Join us on the Hey Day Market lawn for an authentic Spanish experience you do not want to miss!

Friday Night Movies

October 13 |  6 - 10 p.m. | Kiesel Park, Auburn

The first feature Harry and the Hendersons (1987) Rated PG will start at 6:45 p.m., and at 8:40 p.m. the second feature Friday the 13th Part III (1982) Rated R will be shown. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to be comfortable, and concessions consisting of delicious food and tasty treats will be available for purchase to enjoy the movies. This event is free to the public.


 

Haunted Zumba

October 14 | 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. | Frank Brown Recreation Center, Auburn

Grab your spookiest costume and jump in line for Haunted Zumba on Saturday, October 14 from 8 - 10:30 a.m. at Frank Brown Recreation Center. They will host a costume contest from 8:30 - 9 a.m. and Zumba will take place from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Zumba is a Latin dance-based exercise program that combines dancing with an aerobic workout, it might become your new favorite workout!

Halloween Enchanted Forest

October 19, 20, and 21 | 5:30 - 7 p.m. | Kreher Preserve & Nature Center, Auburn

This fun, family-friendly Halloween event takes you on a magical hike in our Enchanted Forest where you will be greeted by our costumed forest friends. These nature-inspired characters will entertain you with how they “trick or treat” other animals and plants in the forest. Tickets are $10 per person and are available to purchase here.

Pine Hill Cemetery Lantern Tour

October 19 & 20 | 6:30 - 9 p.m. | Pine Hill Cemetery, Auburn

Characters come alive for two nights from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. in October at Auburn’s oldest and most historic cemetery! Join your neighbors at this biennial event where cemetery “residents” tell the story of early Auburn. Hear from founder Judge John Harper and others and see where five university presidents rest. This is a family-friendly walking tour through this historic cemetery, lit with candles, where you can learn interesting facts about Auburn. Tickets are $15 at the gate and $7 for students.

Great Pumpkin Splash

October 20 | 6 - 8 p.m. | Opelika Sportsplex, Opelika

Come to The Great Pumpkin Splash at the Opelika SportsPlex to pick a pumpkin from the pool and decorate it for Halloween.

9th Annual Fall Bash

October 20 | 6 - 11:55 p.m. | Red Clay Brewing Company, Opelika

The Red Clay Brewing Taproom will be hosting their 9th Annual Fall Bash on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Featuring Live music, Food trucks, Raffle prizes, and more, you're invited to join this family-friendly and FREE event! Dogs and kids are also welcome! Music provided by Cottonseed studios and food trucks presented in partnership with Food Truck Fridays and the Opelika Chamber.

Opelika Sportsplex Fall Festival

October 24 | 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. | Opelika Sportsplex, Opelika

Come enjoy carnival games, inflatables, candy, prizes, food vendors, and entertainment at the Opelika Sportsplex Fall Festival! Admission is free but activities require the purchase of a wristband or tickets. 

35th Annual AU Pumpkin Carve

October 27 | 5:30 - 7 p.m. | Dudley Courtyard, Auburn

The glow of more than 200 jack-o-lanterns will illuminate the courtyard of Auburn University’s Dudley Hall on Friday, October 27th, as students from the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction hold the 35th Annual Pumpkin Carve.


 

Opelika Villians Ball

October 27 | 7 - 11 p.m. | The Railyard, Opelika

Time to dust off your fangs and get your costume together to show up to The Railyard at John Emerald Distillery in Downtown Opelika. The night will start with a sultry helping of classic jazz & blues standards and original songs by The Secret Sounds and float into a scary good dance party brought to you by SammyD. Celebrate Halloween with Opelika's most fantastic weirdos. All costumes are welcome, no need to be a villain. But aren't we all just a little villainous in our own ways? Official after party at Rock 'N Roll Pinball. Get your tickets here!

Howl-o-ween Dog Costume Contest and Parade 

October 27 | 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. | New Realm Brewing

Calling all Halloween enthusiasts, beer drinkers, and pet lovers! New Realm Brewing, Auburn's only brewery, is hosting a Howl-o-ween dog costume contest and parade this Friday.

Nature Nightmares

October 27 & 28 | 8:30 - 10 p.m. | Kreher Preserve & Nature Center, Auburn

Nature Nightmares is a haunted hike through the pitch-black forest of the KPNC – a hike like you’ve never experienced before. With evil creatures lurking in the shadows and frightening entities waiting for wary visitors, we dare you to come and conquer the darkness! Tickets are $10 per person and are available on-site only.

Fall Festival on the Square

October 29 | 4:30 - 7 p.m. | Downtown Opelika 

Put on your best costume, grab your friends and family, and head to Downtown Opelika from 4:30 - 7 p.m. on Halloween night. There will be fireworks, 5000 lbs of candy, Auburn University Coaches’ Challenge, 26 inflatables (KidzZone), food trucks, prize drawings, and MORE!!

Downtown Auburn Trick-or-Treat

October 31 | 6 - 8 p.m. | Downtown Auburn 

Something spooky is coming this way on Tuesday, Oct. 31 with the return of Auburn's annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat! From 6 - 8 p.m., have a ghoulishly good time at the "Spookiest Village on the Plains". Make plans to join the City of Auburn and the Downtown Merchants Association for candy, spooky music, and costume contests!

Twisted Tales of Poe - LIVE!

October 28th at 7:30 p.m. | October 29th at 2:00 p.m. | October 30th at 6:30 p.m. | October 31st at 8:30 p.m. | Auburn University Chapel

Auburn Area Community Theatre (AACT) is setting the stage and the mood for Halloween weekend by bringing “The Twisted Tales of Poe” to life at the Auburn University Chapel. The show will run Saturday the 28th through Halloween night. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children, students and seniors. 11th Annual Haunted Auburn Walking Tours

Every Friday and Saturday of October + Halloween | Toomers Oaks 

Get the latest on several mysterious phantoms with this 8 p.m. tour offered by co-hosts Brandon Stoker and John Mark Poe. This walking tour is rated PG-13 and is approximately 1.5 hours long. 

Haunted Opelika Walking Tours

Every Friday and Saturday of October + Halloween | Old Train Depot

By popular demand, the tour guides who brought our community the Haunted Auburn Walking Tour for the last decade have collaborated to bring our Railroad Towns’ newest fall event here. The 6 pm tour is rated PG and is appx 30-40 minutes long. Perfect for 12 and up!

The Farm at Rocky Top Pumpkin Patch

Every Saturday and Sunday in October | The Farm at Rocky Top

There will be wagon rides, inflatables, barnyard games, duck races, pumpkin bowling, and so much more! They are open every weekend in October from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Farm

Every Friday and Saturday night in October and October 30 + Halloween | 929 Co Rd 14

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Farm is located just a few miles from downtown Auburn and offers a family-friendly environment that will leave you shaking in your boots. They have three attractions this year; psycho path, clown cabin, and RIP ride. Each attraction is $25 online and $30 onsite. 

Pope's Haunted Farm

Every Friday and Saturday Night in October | Lee Rd 724

There is terror at every turn at Pope's Haunted Farm. Their three different attractions; Haunted Hayride, Haunted Barn, and Haunted Farm, are $20 for 1, $35 for 2, or all three for $45. Single-day admission tickets are only available to purchase onsite. If you are looking for a good scare you have come to the right place, this farm is far from friendly. Check out Pope's Haunted Farm if you dare, they are waiting for you...  

Choctafaula Pumpkin Patch

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October | 929 County Rd 14

Choctafaula Pumpkin Patch is finally back open this October. There are fall games, a petting zoo, wagon rides, a corn crib, cafe and more! Admission is $12 a person and pumpkins from the patch are $7. Click here for more information about the Choctafaula Pumpkin Patch.
