The Ultimate Guide to Homecoming Week in Auburn

Homecoming Week is right around the corner and that means there is a lot to do in Auburn-Opelika! Check out these AUsome events that surround the Auburn vs. Kent State game coming up on Saturday, September 14. War Eagle!

Monday

91st Annual Omicron Delta Kappa Cake Race | Sept. 9 | 4:30 p.m. | Campus Greenspace
The Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Cake Race was established in 1928 by Wilber Hutsell. Hutsell was Auburn’s track coach at the time and began the race to discover possible track team recruits in the freshman class. Today, the ODK tradition lives on as a key event during Homecoming week. Register online for this completely free race! The race starts at approximately 4:30 p.m. There will be prizes (cake!) for the top 5 male and top 5 female winners. Students, as well as alumni, are encouraged to participate. We hope to see you for this long-standing tradition to kick off Homecoming week!

Friday

Friday Football Luncheons | 11 a.m. | Tiger Walk Club in Jordan-Hare Stadium
Kick off every home game weekend at the Friday Football Luncheons. Enjoy lunch with Auburn fans and preview the game with Coach Malzahn or other members of the coaching staff. Tickets are available here.

Auburn Family Friday Speaker Series | 3-4 p.m. | Gogue Performing Arts Center
The Auburn Family Friday Speaker Series features speakers with a connection to Auburn University who speak on a wide range of topics relating to Auburn people, history, sports, programs and research. This week, step behind the curtain with Christopher Heacox, executive director of the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center, as he discusses what it takes to open an 85,000 square foot venue from construction to headlining performances. Backstage tours of the new center will also be available.

Football, Fans and Feathers | 4-5 p.m. | Southeastern Raptor Center
Watch in wonder the Friday before every home game as hawks, falcons, eagles and other birds of prey are free-flown from towers and around the amphitheater, enabling visitors to see these raptors flying close. This educational presentation is appropriate for all ages. The hour-long program begins at 4 p.m. at the 350-seat Edgar B. Carter Educational Amphitheater, located at 1350 Pratt-Carden Drive off Shug Jordan Parkway. Tickets are $5 per person and may be purchased upon entry or in advance here. There is no charge for children age three and under. Tickets will be available two weeks prior to the presentation.

  

Campus Walking Tours with War Eagle Girls & Plainsmen | 4-5 p.m. | Alumni Center
Get to know campus on a walking tour led by Auburn's student representatives, the War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen. Tours will begin at 4 p.m. at the Auburn Alumni Center the Friday before every home game. Tours can be directed to Jordan-Hare Stadium for locker room tours or back to the Alumni Center.

Jordan-Hare Stadium Locker Room Tours | 4-6 p.m. | Jordan-Hare Stadium
Come experience the pre-game locker room setup for the Auburn football team at Jordan Hare-Stadium on Fridays prior to each home game. Tours are free and open to the public. Please enter at Gate 10 through the Jane and Mike McCartney Brick Plaza.

Homecoming Parade & Pep Rally | 6-7 p.m. | Downtown Auburn 
The annual Homecoming Parade allows the Auburn community to celebrate alumni returning home and to build spirit for the Homecoming football game the next day. The parade will feature floats from on and off-campus organizations, the Auburn University Cheerleaders, the Tiger Paws and the Auburn University Marching Band. The parade begins at 6 p.m. on September 13, completing a short loop around downtown Auburn before concluding with a pep rally around 6:30 p.m. on Samford Lawn. The best location to view the parade is on College Street in front of Samford Hall.

Come Home to the Corner | 7-9 p.m. | Downtown Auburn
After enjoying the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally, stick around downtown Auburn for live music! This is an entertainment district event.

Saturday

Auburn Alumni Tailgate | 3-5:30 p.m. | Auburn Alumni Center
The tailgate will open 3 hours prior to kickoff and close 30 minutes before. Food and drink are available for purchase and Alumni members receive special benefits. To register for the tailgate, click here.
 
Tiger Walk | 4 p.m. | Donahue Drive
Each game day, the Tigers walk from the Athletics Complex down Donahue Drive to Jordan-Hare Stadium. The team doesn't make the walk alone, however; instead, they are cheered on by the thousands of Auburn fans who line the street and, in the process, create one of the greatest scenes in college football. Don’t miss out on your chance to cheer on the Tigers before each game!
 
  
Spirit March & Pep Rally | 4:30 p.m. | Donahue Drive
 
Eagle Flight | 5:55 p.m. | Jordan-Hare Stadium
 
Auburn vs. Kent State Kick-off | 6 p.m. | Jordan-Hare Stadium
 

Sunday

Chewacla Cha Cha Trail Race | 8 a.m. | Chewacla State Park 
Come out and run a scenic trail race along the beautiful, rolling trails at Chewacla State Park on September 15! Chewacla State Park hosts this scenic trail run that offers two course distances: a 5k or 10k. While you’re there, enjoy Chewacla Lake, playgrounds, campgrounds and stunning waterfalls.Click here to register.
