The Hotel at Auburn University & Dixon Conference Center Undergoing Extensive Renovations

The Hotel at Auburn University & Dixon Conference Center has begun extensive renovations to give guests a re-imagined experience during meetings and events at the Hotel’s Dixon Conference Center. The Hotel is adding capacity to the main ballroom, as well as functionality that allows both ballrooms to connect. New technology additions, which include electronic displays outside each meeting room, are being added to keep guests informed on pertinent information related to their event and the hotel.

Second Annual Make Music Day Alabama

The second annual Make Music Day Alabama will be on Tuesday, June 20, at 6 p.m. at the Gay Street Municipal Parking Lot in downtown Auburn. Last year hundreds of music-loving participants showed up in hopes of beating the Guinness record for the world’s largest band, almost claiming the title. Coming close to beating the record set by China with 953 people rocking out together, Auburn’s first-ever Make Music Day saw an impressive 850 musical attendees. The Alabama Tourism Department recently published its annual Economic Impact Report for 2016, providing statistical evidence that the travel & tourism industry continues to be one of the most viable segments of the Auburn-Opelika economy. Visitors to the area spent $438 million in the area’s hotels, restaurants, and retail establishments last year, representing a 12% increase over the previous year. The tourism industry also employs 6,243 individuals in Lee County, making it the area’s second largest employer behind Auburn University.
