What's new in Auburn-Opelika this football season?

Whether you come to every game or just stay for Homecoming weekend, there are plenty of new things to do and see in Auburn-Opelika in 2019!

1. New spa at the Marriott Resort at Grand National:

Live in luxury this football season when you stay at the Marriott Resort in Opelika. The hotel has already been awarded Hotel of the Year by Marriott International, a Top Golf Resort by Golf Digest, and recently earned its resort status with the addition of the spa.

2. Resting Pulse Brewing Company:

A new brewery has joined the scene in downtown Opelika! Head over to Resting Pulse for a variety of signature craft beers, along with rotating seasonal offerings. Resting Pulse has a large, indoor taproom and outdoor patio featuring 11 TVs throughout - making it a great place to watch the game with your crew. Learn why it's called Resting Pulse here.

3. Ampersand Wine Bar:

Craft beer not your thing? Stop by Ampersand Wine Bar in downtown Opelika for the largest selection of wines by-the-glass in the Southeast. This cool new spot was recently featured in Garden & Gun magazine and described as "your crazy rich aunt's living room." Talk about ambiance!

4. Bow & Arrow:

Known as the executive chef and owner of Acre and for winning the Iron Chef Showdown, David Bancroft brings us Bow & Arrow. The new foodie spot offers Texas-style barbecue with a Southern twist. This casual, quick service restaurant features barbecue by the pound, sides to share, handmade tortillas, and seasonal margaritas. Oh, and get a photo of their "meat chandelier," as Food & Wine described it, while you're there.

5. There's no such thing as too many diamonds - just ask the Hotel at Auburn University:

The Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center recently received the honor of a Four Diamond Rating from AAA. All the more reason to go enjoy Ariccia Cucina, the hotel’s authentic Italian restaurant featuring fresh, handmade pasta daily, or visit Piccolo, the cozy cocktail lounge with live jazz music on Fridays.

6. Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center:

The state-of-the-art, $70 million venue opens in August 2019, and Grammy-award winning Jason Isbell is scheduled to perform for the opening weekend. The inaugural season includes nine series: Americana roots, Broadway, celebrity concerts, chamber arts, dance, family-friendly performances, global stage, jazz, and vocal songbook. You can catch shows like “Rent” and “Waitress” as well as The Beach Boys and Cirque Mechanics performing here this season.

7. A new bar, the Southeastern, opens in downtown Auburn:

Brought to us by the same people who own Quixotes, the Southeastern will embody "the feel of Southeastern football, the Southern charm, the Southern vibe" and markets itself to young professionals. The venue will feature two levels: the upstairs reserved for young professionals ages 21 and over, while the downstairs will maintain that college party atmosphere we've grown to love at Quixotes.

8. 1st Avenue:

Don’t forget to check out the new development on 1st Avenue in downtown Opelika. 1st Avenue is home to Griff Goods (a sustainable men’s clothing store), Mama Mocha’s (the second location in Auburn-Opelika featuring a larger space and fabulous food menu), 10,000 Hz (a funky new record store), and Sneak & Dawdle (a snazzy new speakeasy from the same people who own The Hound and The Depot in Auburn).

9. Chic, new women's boutique - Magnolia James:

Magnolia James is an upscale, professional women’s boutique bringing more shopping options to Auburn. Located on East Samford Avenue, Magnolia James features staple items like blouses, skirts, and dress pants, as well as small gifts like jewelry and candles. Think business casual, but with a designer twist.

10. Another Broken Egg joins the Auburn-Opelika brunch bunch:

Another Broken Egg is now open at Bent Creek in Auburn. Stop by for a delicious breakfast, lunch, or brunch - complete with Bloody Marys and mimosas! Our recommendation: the lobster omelet or crab cake benedict, and don’t forget to try the biscuit beignets!
