Jule Collins has made modifications for re-opening to make sure their visitors are safe. In addition to beautiful exhibitions, here are some of the highlights of what to expect in this Phase I:

  • Admission is first-come, first-served, with 30 visitors permitted in the building at a time.
  • Visitors will follow a designated flow, with set capacity in public spaces to allow physical distancing.
  • Staff and visitors wear face coverings inside to minimize the spread of coronavirus.
  • An expanded visitor services team will be available to assist with any questions.

The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University consists of changing exhibition galleries, Luster, the museum café, and a museum shop in a striking modernist building set within extensive grounds. The museum shop features handcrafted and out of the ordinary gifts. A pillar of the southern gateway cultural arts district, the museum offers students, faculty, and the region impactful opportunities to engage with a wide-ranging visual and decorative art collection spanning centuries, genres, and materials. The atrium features a breathtaking glass sculpture, Amber Luster Chandelier, by Dale Chihuly with a permanent collection that features Elizabeth Catlett, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Pierre-August Lenoir, to name but a few. Strengths also include mid-20th-century American modernism as well as Mexican modernism; contemporary prints and photographs, the work of John James Audubon, works on paper depicting the South, ceramics, and Southern visionary art.  The museum also presents a biennial juried outdoor sculpture exhibition, selected from artists’ works nationwide.

Along with a variety of programs for adults and children, the museum welcomes all guests to explore, experience, and engage! Admission is free. Plan your visit online at www.jcsm.auburn.edu or call 334-844-1484 for more information.
