Join the Auburn-Opelika Tourism Team as an Intern!

Auburn-Opelika Tourism isn’t just a non-profit; we’re a team of passionate professionals dedicated to making every visitor’s experience unforgettable. Each semester, our communications & marketing team welcome 2-3 driven interns ready to dive into content creation, storytelling, marketing, and communications. As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in promoting one of the Southeast’s most vibrant destinations.

Requirements/Skills:

Interns must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have a strong understanding of public relations writing, social media content creation, and branding. Professional interaction with community partners and guests is essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, video editing tools, or photo/video content platforms is a plus. Active on-campus involvement (e.g. student organizations, recruitment programs, student media groups) is strongly preferred. Interns should be able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work 15-40 hours per week, including occasional nights and weekends. A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are key to success in this role.

Responsibilities:

As an intern, your duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in brainstorming sessions, staff meetings, and event planning; providing on-site support at select events (including some evenings/weekends).
  • Concepting, filming, editing, and publishing engaging content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Stories, and other social platforms.
  • Assisting with the website event calendar, partner listings, and CRM/CMS updates to ensure information is accurate and current.
  • Supporting social media strategy through scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and tracking performance analytics.
  • Drafting short-form copy for event promotions, email campaigns, and social posts.
  • Helping organize and maintain digital assets, including photos and videos, to support ongoing campaigns.
  • Assisting with the distribution of printed materials and guest amenities (personal vehicle required).
  • Conducting research to support marketing, communications, and business development initiatives.
