When the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center at Auburn University (GPAC) began developing its K–12 programs, AOT saw an opportunity to support the initiative in a way that aligned with its mission. This vision led to the creation of the Inspirational Development Fund for Excellence in 2023, an endowment that ensures K–12 students with financial need can experience live performances, workshops, and community programs.

Auburn-Opelika Tourism is a non-profit service organization positively impacting the local economy and improving the quality of life in the community through tourism and travel. Supporting the arts has long been part of that mission, from sponsoring amphitheater performances that drew regional visitors to funding cultural venue renovations.

"It's maybe the only chance for some of these kids to be exposed to arts and Auburn University," said Robyn Bridges, president and CEO of Auburn-Opelika Tourism. "These experiences can inspire future Auburn students and maintain our vibrant and thriving community."

Through this partnership, students experience performances that spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Christopher Heacox, executive director of the Gogue Center, said, "For many students, the Gogue Center is where they hear the swell of a live orchestra, see a story unfold through movement, or feel the power of performance, all for the very first time. We are proud to partner with Auburn-Opelika Tourism to make these important, life-enriching moments possible."

Thanks to AOT’s support, the Gogue Performing Arts Center’s education and engagement programs have reached thousands of students over the past several years. Attendance has steadily grown, from nearly 4,000 students from four school districts in 2019 to more than 9,000 students from 52 schools registered for eight K–12 performances in 2025–2026, reflecting the continued impact of this partnership. For many children, these visits spark wonder, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts, leaving memories that stay with them long after the final curtain call.

By providing support that aligns with its mission, Auburn-Opelika Tourism is helping break down financial barriers, inspire the next generation of artists and performers, and strengthen the community through the shared joy of live performances.
